Ashley
Founder of Terra Joy
Though Ashley was a late bloomer to the outdoors, nature quickly went from a new hobby to her life’s core inspiration. After earning her degree in Biochemistry and while working in topical skincare research, she began rock climbing—a spark that ignited a deep obsession with the wild places of the West. Raised in Southern California, her journey eventually led her to Colorado to chase mountain dreams and reconnect with the landscapes that felt inexplicably like home.
As her practice in herbalism grew, Ashley felt a magnetic pull to the flora of the Southwest desert. Digging into her ancestry, she discovered a lineage rooted in Mexico, Europe, and the ancient reaches of the Sonoran Desert and Rio Grande—realizing that her deep connection to these native plants was literally in her blood. Today, she weaves her scientific background, herbal wisdom, and love for wilderness oil painting into Terra Joy, creating small-batch botanical skin care and fine art inspired by deep immersion in nature.

At Terra Joy, we believe the best version of you is the one covered in trail dust. But we also know that the "Terra"—the grit, the sun, and the stone—can take a toll. I create skincare and art to capture the spirit of the wild.
We believe those who push their limits on granite walls and find peace in remote valleys deserve skincare as resilient and natural as the landscapes they explore and art that keeps those wild moment alive in daily life.
Earn the dirt, find the joy, and let us handle the rest.

Our small-batch herbal formulas are crafted at the intersection of botanical science and creative art. Utilizing Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction (UAE), we extract our botanicals in-house to achieve optimal potency sustainably and efficiently.
Guided by the rhythms of seasonal living, we release limited-edition topical drops that honor the unique harvest of each year. Because nature is never identical twice, certain formulas remain exclusive seasonal releases, while a core collection of staple products remains available year-round. We approach every formulation like a work of art—unique, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the land.

Leaning into the wild spaces we inhabit allows us to cultivate a quiet, enduring connection to the earth. I create fine art to foster an environment for retrospection, presence, and remembrance.
My process begins in remote landscapes, capturing moments through plein-air photography during my wilderness adventures. Back in the studio, I translate these scenes into oil paintings, weaving human forms into natural topographies to capture not just the view, but the profound feeling of being entirely immersed within it.

Driven by a desire to live deeply rooted in the earth and immerse myself in its beauty, I am committed to learning the ancestral lineages that shape our relationship to the land. My path is guided by bioregional herbalism, indigenous ethnobotany, and a commitment to understanding plant medicine through the lens of my lineage. I approach this work with intentional slowness—allowing time, place, and ancestral memory to guide every formulation and painting.
